I think the bigger question is “Equality in terms of what”?

How many American workers, men or women are actually happy or fulfilled by their “work”? In this economy, employers are more demanding because they can be…..employees have sacrificed more and more of their free time, thanks to our electronic devices that allow employers to follow them home…..and in the end they are working harder and harder, in an economy where salaries have been outpaced by the cost of living, to make more money for some corporate entity while they continually get the short end of the stick for themselves….

And when all is said and done, when they retire, they will have the privilege of having the stock market screw them out of their hard earned retirement funds they so can work part-time, low wage jobs when they are old, to supplement their incomes!

I for one cannot wait until our entire economic system collapses and we have to go back to bartering for goods and services! ;-) Only kidding…well, maybe not…..The American Dream as we know it is dead…..

If I hadn't gone through a school system that placed boys in the "back of the class" especially if they were non-conformist, then I might have agreed with you. But increasingly, the rise of women is at the expense of men. Sadly, this is beginning in our public schools to a degree that boys are made to feel stupid and then they begin to act stupid. Their roles are no longer "guaranteed" in life. I think the real solution to the problem is segregated education - boys learn differently than girls. Boys are more tactile in their learning and more loud and out front while girls are much quieter and calm generally. In your grade school days, and in my grade school days, the boys were actually favorited - but not any longer. Catholic and Episcopal education which traditionally is NOT co-ed, took those learning differences into account. Do some more homework on the issue and you may change your mind.
